Motorhome and caravan insurance in Milmersdorf
Your home on wheels deserves protection that suits your vehicle and your travel plans.
A motorhome may accompany you on weekend breaks, longer holidays or journeys lasting several months. A caravan may travel regularly or spend extended periods on a pitch. These differences should be considered when choosing insurance.
At Milster & Bahls in Milmersdorf, we discuss insurance options for new and used motorhomes and caravans. Together, we clarify how you use your vehicle, which equipment it has and what protection matters to you.
From liability insurance to partial and comprehensive cover and additional benefits, the individual offer is what counts. Cover, exclusions and excesses depend on the selected policy and its terms.

How do you travel with your home on wheels?
Suitable insurance starts with an accurate description of your usage. Do you travel for a few weeks each year or regularly take longer trips? Do you mainly stay in Germany or plan to travel abroad? Who will drive the motorhome?
The vehicle's value, storage location and any modifications also belong in the discussion. For a caravan, explain whether it is frequently towed or mainly kept at a fixed location.
This information helps identify which insurance options may be appropriate. Changes in how you use the vehicle should also be discussed with the insurer.
Four questions about your travel plans
What would you like to insure?
A motorhome, campervan or caravan, including relevant equipment and modifications.
How do you use the vehicle?
Occasional holidays, frequent outings or extended stays.
Where do you travel?
Destination countries, usual parking locations and any longer storage periods.
Who uses the vehicle?
The drivers and whether you intend to let other people use it.
Liability and vehicle damage cover serve different purposes
The following categories provide an introduction to German vehicle insurance options. Whether a particular loss is covered and how it is settled depends on the individual policy.
Liability insurance
Liability insurance concerns compensation claims from third parties in connection with the insured vehicle. Vehicle type, usage and the agreed cover are relevant when selecting an offer. Damage to your own motorhome or caravan is a separate matter.
Partial cover — Teilkasko
Teilkasko can cover specified damage to your own vehicle, for example theft, glass damage or certain natural events. The events and vehicle components included depend on the policy.
For motorhomes in particular, it is worth clarifying how the offer treats windscreens, habitation windows, permanently installed equipment and accessories.
Comprehensive cover — Vollkasko
Vollkasko can extend protection to include accidental damage you cause to your own vehicle and vandalism, among other events. The agreed terms and exclusions still apply.
Alongside the premium, discuss the excess and settlement terms. If the vehicle is financed, any requirements in the finance agreement should also be considered.
Your vehicle, belongings and travel disruption are separate topics
Motorhome insurance does not automatically cover everything inside the vehicle or the cost of a cancelled trip. Personal belongings, trip interruption and cancellation need to be considered separately.
Tell us which additional risks matter to you. Whether an optional benefit or a separate insurance product is available needs to be clarified using the actual offer.

Consider your equipment and destinations
An awning, solar panels, a bike rack or other additions can affect the value and use of your motorhome. Declare existing equipment when enquiring and clarify whether it is included and which limits apply.
Loose items are different from permanently installed accessories. Bicycles, electronics and personal travel equipment should therefore be raised explicitly if you want cover for them.
For trips abroad, the geographical scope of cover and any time restrictions are important. Breakdown assistance, towing and vehicle repatriation should not be assumed to be included in every policy.
If you intend to rent out your motorhome or regularly let other people use it, mention this beforehand. Cover agreed for private personal use cannot be assumed to apply to every other use.
Look beyond the insurance premium
Two offers with different premiums may provide substantially different protection. Compare excesses, settlement limits, insured equipment and exclusions as well as the price.
A higher excess can affect the premium but also means paying a larger share yourself when a covered claim occurs. The agreed arrangement should suit your expectations and financial circumstances.
If you already have insurance, have your existing policy information available for the conversation. Whether changing policies makes sense and when it is possible can only be assessed using the specific contracts.
Know who to contact
Keep your policy number, contact details and the insurer's instructions somewhere accessible. The agreed procedures apply when reporting a claim and arranging the next steps.
If repairs are also needed, you can discuss the workshop requirements with us. Accepting a vehicle for repair does not automatically mean that the insurer will pay the costs.

Do you also advise on caravan insurance?
Yes, you can contact us about both motorhomes and caravans. Suitable options are discussed based on the vehicle type, value and intended use.
What is the difference between liability and vehicle damage cover?
Liability insurance concerns compensation claims from third parties. Vehicle damage cover can insure agreed types of damage to your own vehicle. The events included depend on the selected policy.
Do I need Teilkasko or Vollkasko?
There is no single answer for every owner. Vehicle value, usage, desired protection and any finance requirements all matter. We discuss the available options with you.
Are awnings, solar panels and other additions insured?
This depends on the policy terms and agreed insured amount. Declare accessories and modifications when enquiring so that their inclusion in the specific offer can be clarified.
Are my personal belongings automatically protected?
You should not assume so. Personal belongings and loose equipment need separate consideration. Explicitly mention any protection you would like for these items.
Does the insurance apply abroad?
The geographical scope of the policy determines this. Tell us your planned destinations and any extended stays abroad so that potential restrictions can be clarified in advance.
Are trip cancellation and interruption included?
These benefits are not automatically part of vehicle insurance. The availability of additional cover and the events it includes must be checked separately.
What is an excess?
The excess is the agreed amount you pay yourself towards a covered claim. Its level and application depend on the contract and may differ between types of cover.
Can I rent out my insured motorhome?
Renting out the vehicle must be expressly discussed with the insurer. Do not assume that a policy for private personal use also includes rental use.
Which details help with my enquiry?
Useful information includes vehicle type, make, model, first registration date, value, equipment and intended use. For the first contact, your enquiry and contact details are sufficient. We will clarify any further information personally.
